Choir and Musicians at Skoolfest 2013 - 22nd May at Worthing Pavilion Theatre

We are very proud that Davison musicians and singers have been invited to take part in this year's Skoolfest gig at the Worthing Pavillion Theatre on 22nd May at 7pm. This is an amazing opportunity to join musicians and bands from local schools in a concert at a professional theatre run by current students at Northbrook College.

Davison choir will be opening the show with a performance of Gospel songs which we will be working on with the expert help of gospel singer and choir leader Siggy Mwasote. The gig will also feature performances from singers and musicians at Davison and should be a really memorable and exciting evening.

Tickets are available in advance for the gig from the Worthing Theatres website. Please see www.worthingtheatres.co.uk for more detail.

Check out the Skoolfest facebook page for further information and a special sneak preview of the Davison choir and other performers. www.facebook.com/skoolfest

Year 10 students, Alice and Florence White, raised £151.87 for 'Help for Heroes' ...

At the end of last term, Alice and her sister Florence wrote, directed and staged a magnificent play based on the Vietnam War called "All Shook Up" in the school hall. Attracting a paying audience of approximately 100 people, the play raised £151.87 for their selected charity "Help for Heroes" and attracted coverage from the Worthing Herald (see article below). A cheque for the donation was despatched to "Help for Heroes" and an acknowledgement letter and certificate is winging its way back to the girls and the school, thanking them for their support. Alice and Florence would like to say a big thank you to the 24 member cast, which comprised of drama students from the school, and all those who helped to make the evening a success, especially the two tea ladies on the night, Mrs West and Mrs Scales!

Davison students qualify for Sussex Athletics!

On Wednesday 15th May, 25 students took part in the District Athletics at Worthing Leisure Centre - despite filling in lots of events at the last minute and the random hailstorm at the start, the students did exceptionally well!

At the end of the day, the Junior students came 2nd out of the thirteen schools competing and the Intermediate students also took 2nd place. Overall in the Girls Competition, Davison came a very respectable 2nd!

In the overall competition, including boys' scores courtesy of St Andrews, Davison came 2nd as well.

Special mention to Leah Harris, Emma Collins, Megan Close, Emelia Williams and Emily Marchant for qualifying for the next round of competitions for Sussex.

A great season for the Davison Year 9 Netball Team ...

Congratulations to the Year 9 Netball Team who have had a very successful season. Having already come 2nd in the Area League last term, the Team were looking forward to taking part in the Year 9 Area Netball Tournament.

Out of 8 teams entered, the students eventually finished in 3rd place after beating Shoreham Academy 12-0 in the 3rd/4th place play off. The students then narrowly missed out on making the final after a 5-3 defeat to Sion in the semi finals.

They have been incredibly committed this year and their hard work has paid off. Well done to Megan Close, Kina Garratt, Emelia Challen, Georgie Coppin, Eliska Forman, Saffron Gordon, Alicia Hurst, Charlotte Lloyd, Rebecca Lloyd, Yasmin Payne, Lauren Thompson and Sabah Kahn.
