DAVISON C.E. HIGH SCHOOL IS AN OUTSTANDING SCHOOL! Special mention was made of the school's involvement with the community - "Excellent partnerships.... promote outstanding community cohesion and enrich the student experience". Gaining an outstanding judgement places Davison in the top 10% of secondary schools nationally. Davison Headteacher Della West said "I am particularly proud of the commitment and effort of all the school family, including students, staff, Governors and parents. This sort of achievement comes as a result of clear sustained focus on improvement across the whole school: everyone plays their part. To be judged 'Outstanding' is particularly pleasing, coming at a time when Ofsted changed the criteria to make their inspections more rigorous. There were so many aspects of the school which the inspectors thought were examples of outstanding practice: a rich and stimulating curriculum, the strong, pervading family ethos and exceptional relationships among students and adults, to name a few Following the Ofsted inspection, Davison was also inspected as a Church of England Controlled Secondary school. Here too the judgement was outstanding in all areas of the report. Praise was given to the leadership of the Headteacher and senior staff developing a strong values based community, the nurturing Christian ethos and the diverse and extensive opportunities for service and charitable work. Chair of Governors, Ray Oxenbridge said 'Having been associated with the school over many years, I am thrilled that the work of the school community has been recognised in this way. We are all absolutely delighted. ' The Davison Nursery was also inspected at the same time as the school and was judged to be a 'good nursery with some exemplary areas of practice, such as the partnership with other providers and engaging with parents'. The Nursery Manager, Louise Payne was praised for her 'inspirational leadership in promoting staff teamwork'. The children were seen as having a 'great sense of belonging and sharing a warm and caring relationship with staff'. |
