Specialist School Status

Davison is very proud of its affiliation with the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust. The school was designated a Technology College in 1998 and was one of the first schools in the Country to be given this Specialist Status. Even today we are one of only four Technology Colleges in West Sussex Local Authority and we are certainly the only girl's Technology College.

Our specialist status means that technology is a very tangible part of our girl's learning experience at school. Our Design and Technology regularly reports some of the highest GCSE results in the County and although every girl is expected to study technology at KS4, the technology team work hard to develop a variety of courses and subjects that will be interesting and engaging for the girls

Less overtly, we actively encourage our girls to use all the technological means available to promote their learning in all subjects. All classrooms are suited with an interactive whiteboard, almost all of our subject areas are integrated with a 'pod' style computer suite and we also have a wireless network to promote mobile learning through laptops and handheld devices.

Being a specialist school means that we have a direct responsibility to promote learning though are family of schools and through our local community. Youth University, CADCAM in the Community, Family Learning, Davison Gifted and Talented Summer Schools, Food in Schools and the SCIART Projects are just some of the ways in which Davison have helped improve the learning experience of others in our local area.
